Love Apptually

Laura Whitaker

Hello scrapbookers!  It's Laura here with you today sharing a page created for our "Social Media" theme!

Since my youngest son and I are currently residing about 3 hours away from my husband, we use social media a lot to stay connected.  We call and text each other several times a day, but my youngest is at school all day long so we have to work a little harder to keep him connected with his dad. Skyping during dinner, as often as possible, is an easy way for them to have time together. I am so grateful that we live in a time that it is super easy for us all to have daily contact!

One night while we were having dinner and skyping, I snapped a photo as I knew that this would be something that I would ant to document.  And as it turns out it is perfect for this weeks theme! The photo is a little dark as it was taken during the winter months when it is dark before 5pm, but the memory is still important.

I began my page by deciding on a title, which was a little tricky for me at first, but then it hit me and I ran with it!

Because my title had the word "love" in it I decided to use this cut file that I created, and had lots of fun filling in the heart with colourful patterns from the Par-r-rty Me Hearty collection.

Because I was so excited about my title, I worked on that next. Which is a little unusual for me.

I layered my photo over some vellum and a die cut  and cut apart tag from the same collection. Then I added some simple embellishing.

I decided to go bold with my journaling and use it as a main part of my design, then I embellished around it as well.

A few strips of pattern along the bottom of my page finishes it off!

Thank you for visiting friends!

Instalove

This week we asked our DT to create projects that revolved around Social Media. And they came up with some great ideas.

Nathalie Leonelli

Hi there! Did you know that June 29th is Social Media Day? When I found out, I decided to use it as a prompt to look into my online habits. The conclusion: I am addicted to Instagram!!!
The layout I am sharing today was created mostly with the Sunny collection as well as a few items from my stash (see list of supplies below):

The design is based on a Pagemaps sketch from February 2016.
I created a frame with strips of patterned paper and positioned my photo on one of the strips. The journaling sneaks out of one side and I made the title pop by placing white Thickers on top of hot pink cardstock.
Here are a couple of close-ups:

Here's one last look at the whole 8.5x11 page:

We are all on social media these days but they evolve and we do as well. As I wrote in my journaling above, I went from forums and blogs to mostly Instagram which I am sure will be replaced down the line by something else, hence the idea of recording it on a page! And lastly, include the "tool" you use to get online because that will change even faster! Imagine seeing a page about the computer or phone your parents or grandparents were using ;)

As this is my last project for Imaginisce, I would like to thank Cari, our design team coordinator for selecting me to join the team! It has been fun, I have made new friends and I wish her and the other designers the best!

Supplies:

Imaginisce: patterned papers, American Crafts: fabric Thickers, cardstock, Simple Stories: die-cut, Studio Calico and Scraptastic Club: wood veneers, Scraptastic Club: flair button.

Hello Summer

It may be raining here right now but summer is definitely here. Check out this stunning layout by Katie - she captures so many fun events onto one page!!

Katie Rose

Hi everyone! Katie here today sharing a summer layout with you all! Of course I used the Sunny collection for this layout...the perfect papers and embellishments for summer! For this layout I chose to document several photos from our 2008 summer, a sort of overview of the summer. Here is a look at what I came up with:

I really wanted to use a lot of the different patterned papers from this collection. I decided to cut strips and place them diagonally across the top third of the layout. I then printed out two rows of photos and placed them in the middle third of the layout. And lastly, I used the bottom third for my title and journaling.

The layout is actually quite simple to make but really has a big, bold impact with the great colors and patterns from the Sunny Collection!

Supplies Used:
Imaginisce: patterned paper, stickers (Sunny)

American Crafts: cardstock

Summery Water Coloured Cards

Melissa Elsner

Hey there! Melissa here and I’m so excited that Summer is finally here in the northern hemisphere. It’s my favorite season as the days get longer and warmer. You’ll usually find me hanging outside with friends with a cool beverage in hand. I also love opening the windows all the way while I craft the weekend days away.
Today, I’m sharing two cards using the Sunny collection. The bright colors and icons are so perfect for a card celebrating Summer.
For each of these cards, I began the design with some paint and ink. I did a layer of clear gesso so that the watercolors would remain vivid and bright and not fade into the paper. Once the paint dried, I added the splatter and then built the rest of the design for each card.
For the first one, I had some fun with the sunshine:

The sun rays were cut from the border strip of patterned paper. To add some yummy texture, I took my sewing machine and did some stitching along the rays.

Now, let’s move on to the next card. I love to layer on my layouts and, it isn’t any different with my cards. I love the challenge of figuring out how to combine as much color and pattern, without overwhelming. The trick is making sure I have a strong focal point which would be the flamingo, who then draws your eye to the sentiment that is popped up.

When it comes to layering on cards, I find that using thin strips of the patterns work perfectly. You can still pack in a punch but on a smaller scale that makes sense for a card.

Isn’t that flamingo so fun? I’ve been dying to use it and was so happy to use it on this adorable card! I can’t wait to give this away to celebrate summer with someone!

Are YOU ready for summer? Bust out your Sunny collection and have fun documenting the memories and, hey, make some cards too!
Thanks for joining me today.

Oh Happy Summer!

Summer is fast approaching and from the sounds of it some of you already are enjoying that warm weather!!!

Our DT was asked to create projects this week with a Summer theme and they have definitely created some beautiful work once again!!

Monique Liedtke

Hi Imaginisce friends! It's Monique today sharing my take on this month's sketch. I used the Sunny collection and this fun photo of my hubby and our two sons. As soon as I saw the bicycle paper I knew I wanted to scrap these photos but because they are already a few years old it took me a while to find them. Glad that I did in the end!

And except the paper with the bicycles I also used the journaling card with the bicycle! And don't you just love that sticker stacker with the camera?

I used the Silhouette Cameo to cut a title:

And added some hand journaling at the bottom of my page. I used the water melon die cut for the finishing touch.

And just to remind you what the June sketch looks like, here it is again:

Supplies:
Imaginisce: patterned papers, die-cut shapes, word stickers, sticker stacker (Sunny collection). American Crafts: cardstock. Other: Silhouette Cameo; cut file: Studio Calico.

If you decide to take a chance on this month's sketch then don't forget to share it with us! We would love to see it!

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by our blog today!
Monique
